Our work speaks for itself.

The Client: Kirk Hammerton

  • Our client approached us with a vision: to create a private, serene retreat in their garden—a space to unwind, reconnect with nature, and escape the everyday. The home had been recently bespoke-built, and the garden was about to be landscaped, offering the perfect opportunity to integrate a new feature. Their wish was simple but meaningful: a modern garden sauna that felt both tucked away and completely integrated into the landscape. It needed to be low-maintenance, aesthetically aligned with their home, and above all, a place of peace and privacy.

  • We designed a custom garden sauna, carefully positioned in a quiet corner of the garden. The exterior is clad in whisky larch treated using the Yakisugi (also known as Shou Sugi Ban) technique—a traditional Japanese method of charring timber to increase its durability and weather resistance, while giving it a distinctive dark finish that matches the cladding on the main house.

Inside, the sauna features clean lines, soft lighting, and natural materials to create a calm, inviting space. A large window pane frames views of the garden, allowing in light and greenery while still maintaining privacy.

The result is a low-maintenance, modern retreat—designed to be used regularly, and built to last.
